Role

The People & Talent Partner plays a key role in supporting both HR operations and talent acquisition efforts across the organization. Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, this role combines hands-on recruitment with core HR responsibilities contributing to a positive employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. The ideal candidate is people-focused, organized and brings a balanced approach – comfortable navigating both day-to-day processes and relationships.

Key Accountabilities

People & Culture

  • Support the Head of Human Resources in the day-to-day delivery of all human resources functions, including developing, implementing and administering HR initiatives
  • Provide guidance to leaders and employees on HR policies, procedures and best practices, fostering a consistent and compliant work environment
  • Prepare HR communications to ensure clarity, consistency and alignment with HR goals and company culture
  • Act as Co-Chair of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and support country-wide H&S initiatives
  • Coordinate and maintain employee records and HR systems, ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality and integrity
  • Monitor and administer HR legislative requirements, creating and delivering mandatory training programs and supporting audit preparedness
  • Collaborate with the payroll administrator to ensure timely and accurate employee data changes
  • Support the administration of employee benefits and retirement programs including enrolment, changes and responding to employee inquiries
  • Prepare and process employee documentation, including employment letters and status changes
  • Assist with cyclical HR programs such as performance management, compensation reviews, employee surveys and policy updates

 Talent Acquisition

  • Design and implement innovative recruitment processes to attract diverse talent pools
  • Partner with leaders to understand hiring needs and create comprehensive job descriptions to attract skilled talent
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process from sourcing to onboarding, ensuring a seamless experience
  • Utilize various sourcing channels including job boards, social media, networking events, employee referrals and leverage partnerships with external agencies to identify and engage top talent
  • Create targeted social media recruitment and culture campaigns to enhance employer branding
  • Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and participate in assessments to evaluate candidate qualifications
  • Continuously evaluate and refine recruitment processes, implementing best practices and trends to improve efficiency and fill roles effectively
  • Collaborate with leaders to negotiate salary packages and employment terms, ensuring alignment with compensation plans and company programs and policies
  • Prepare and extend offer letters, manage the offer process and employee records maintenance
  • Design and lead orientation programs, and ensuring a smooth transition for new employees to enhance engagement and reinforce company culture
  • Provide training and advice to leaders on recruitment and onboarding best practices
  • Track and analyze key recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, source effectiveness, candidate quality and turnover rates; including preparing reports for senior leadership
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in talent acquisition, recommending system enhancements or tools that create efficiencies
  • Engage with Colleges and Universities and manage student hiring, including co-ops, interns and new grad program
  • Leverage AI tools and platforms to enhance the recruitment process, streamline candidate sourcing and improve overall efficiencies

 

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist role
  • 5+ years of experience in a talent acquisition role
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices in Canada
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to build trust and credibility to support employees and guide leaders
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Professional, self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of accountability
  • Comfortable adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic office environment
  • Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential information
  • Proficient using HR systems and tools, Microsoft Office Suite and other workplace tools
  • Professional appearance and demeanour
