We are an innovative and entrepreneurial insurance brokerage and employee benefits consulting firm based in Toronto with offices in Vancouver, Montreal and Port Hope. We have an exciting opportunity in our growing Vancouver office for an Associate Broker on our national Mining & Energy team.

Role Description

As an Associate Broker at PRL, a typical day might include the following: 

  • Developing and communicating an understanding of client business by conducting and analyzing client research;
  • Managing account concerns or issues encountered and successfully addressing small to complex problems in a timely manner by applying judgement as to when and what to escalate up to senior colleagues;
  • Building relationships with professional counterparts at client and underwriting organizations;
  • Monitoring the collection of receivables;
  • Ensuring all client records (i.e., policies/bonds, correspondence, emails, etc.) are uploaded to our system (EPIC)
    and shared drive;
  • Managing day-to-day aspects for designated accounts and conducting ensuing account management tasks including generating and coordinating calendars and timelines, liaising between internal senior professionals and business accounts, and representing the business to ensure superior client service and account management;
  • Supporting market placement;
  • Performing insurance audits;
  • Reviewing contracts and indemnity provisions;
  • Preparing key insurance documents, including quote summary reports, pre and post-renewal reports, underwriting submissions, placemats, binders, policy reviews (1st reviews) and summary of insurance;
  • Coordinating program administration for invoicing, auto liability certificates, insurance certificate processing (if necessary) and creating client reports (i.e., printing, cerlox binding);
  • Providing back-up support to senior brokers and client executives on day-to-day account services; and
  • Managing other duties as assigned.


This job might be right for you if you:

  • Have 3 to 7 years of insurance brokering or underwriting experience;
  • Possess a valid IBABC Broker License Level II;
  • Thrive on paying attention to details, and work well under the pressure of deadlines and multiple priorities;
  • Are focused and motivated to execute your responsibilities in an efficient, accurate, complete and timely manner;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
