Role
The Broker Support Specialist is a licensed technical role that provides proactive administrative and policy-level support to Broker and Client Executives across all lines of business. This individual plays a key role in upholding our Client Service Standards by maintaining a strong understanding of client needs and insurance coverage. While this is not meant to be a client-facing role, the position requires knowledge and professionalism to communicate directly with clients when needed.
Key Accountabilities
- Review binders and policies to confirm consistency with quotes and ensure documentation is complete and accurate
- Manage invoicing based on binders and policy terms, flag discrepancies as needed
- Obtain financing agreements
- Upload and maintain all documentation in EPIC in accordance with internal standards
- Conduct thorough review of insurer documents prior to upload to ensure quality control
- Proactively support the renewal process by initiating 60-90-day renewal schedules and identifying potential changes or issues
- Prepare policy documentation and summaries to support client meetings and presentations
- Assist in the processing of renewal pink cards and certificates of insurance
- Assist in accounting queries
- Communicate any discrepancies or changes to the broker or client executive promptly
- Support multiple lines of business with consistent and accurate technical assistance
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of workflows and documentation processes
- Provide licensed administrative support, including occasional client communications
Requirements
- Level 1 license with the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC)
- 2-4 years of experience in a technical or administrative role within a brokerage or insurance firm
- Experience working with Applied EPIC or similar insurance management systems
- Strong understanding of policy structure, underwriting documents, and commercial insurance terminology
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently
- Comfortable supporting multiple brokers and teams across different lines of business
