Role
The Senior Surety Specialist will manage a portfolio of surety clients, providing guidance, market-leading service and tailored bonding solutions. This role combined with technical expertise in reviewing and structuring surety programs with a strong focus on client service, market negotiations, and business support. The Senior Specialist will act as a key liaison between clients, underwriters and internal teams to ensure solutions meet both financial and operational requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Review tender specifications and issue bid bonds, performance bonds, and agreements to bond
- Analyze financial statements and assess credit requests for public and private enterprises
- Develop customized surety solutions and negotiate terms with surety markets
- Interact regularly with clients and underwriters to maintain strong relationships and address ongoing needs
- Review and coordinate renewal information to ensure timely and accurate submissions
- Prepare client reports, proposals, and presentations for existing and prospective business
- Present analysis and findings to management, providing recommendations on complex accounts
- Monitor receivables and coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely collection
- Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to colleagues across the brokerage
- Stay informed on market trends, underwriting practices, and regulatory changes impacting surety business
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in surety, with a strong background in construction bonding and commercial surety
- Possess or willing to obtain RIBO license (Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario)
- Proven ability to structure and negotiate complex surety programs
- Strong relationships with surety markets and understanding of underwriting practices
- Excellent client service, communication, and relationship management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tool, specifically Excel
